URLs in notifications do not open app Follow
The deep links used in SMS and email notifications for a Check-in or Alert are normally identified by Android and iOS, then used to open the App so the Account Owner can see the alert in the native app.
On Android, it is possible to select a default web browser for following all URLs in email and text messages. If at some time an owner has been asked "Open with Chrome", or another web browser app, and has selected "Always" instead of "Just once", then deep links in our notifications will only open that browser and will not open our app.
This default setting can be changed in the Settings app of their Android phone; removing the default option will allow links in SMS and email notifications to open directly into our app, if installed, and will still open into a browser if the app is not installed.
This issue only applies to people who:
- Use an Android phone
- Installed the partner app
- Logged in as an Account Owner
- Are a Contact for at least one Device User
