What are the Cellular and Bluetooth Modes for my device, and how are they different? Follow
Your device works in two modes to ensure connectivity and to help extend battery life. In Bluetooth® Mode, your device works while connected through your smartphone. In Cellular Mode, your device connects to your cellular carrier service without needing a phone. Bluetooth Mode gives the best battery life.
The Connection LED on the device shows which mode is active. When the Connection LED is blue, the device is in Bluetooth Mode. When the Connection LED is green, the device is in Cellular Mode.
When connected by Bluetooth, the device uses that Bluetooth connection to communicate with the partner app on your smartphone to start your Alerts and send Check-ins. If a Yellow or Red Alert is active, your device's microphone, location sensor are used, and your smartphone's microphone is separately sent in your alert. Bluetooth Mode uses very little phone battery and gives your device battery life up to 30 days in standby mode.
In Cellular Mode, the device uses your carrier’s LTE network for its connection. During an alert in Cellular Mode, the device's microphone, location data, and LTE data connection are used. Cellular Mode never uses your smartphone's battery and gives your device battery life up to 7 days in standby mode.
